Imagine being at work and your boss is talking to you and you hear nothing they are saying to you. You keep asking, "I'm sorry, What did you say?" as another attempt to try and listen. However the only thing you hear are the Black families crying and hurting from the loss of losing a loved one to police brutality. You hear the opinions of friends and family on social media. You hear yourself thinking am I next, my brother, my father, my husband? You hear hopelessness, fear, loneliness.... Does anyone in this office hear it too?

I love people. All people. However all lives can not matter until Black lives matter. July 5th 2016 I went to my first BLM protest in Times Square, NY. It was the most liberating action that I could have taken at the time. There was so much love and healing between police and the protesters that for a moment I had hope that maybe one day we too can have a seat at the table. This is an ongoing battle that is going to challenge us to have uncomfortable conversations with people who may not look or think as we do. Over the past years I have pushed myself to get comfortable with being uncomfortable so the next time my boss is talking to me I can say, "I'm sorry, but I really need to talk about the social issues that are happening in our communities. I can't go on as if it doesn't exist. Can we have this conversation?"

LET'S TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL!
