Summer '17 Lookbook: "Sheer Lovvve"

Sheer... I know strange concept lol. How can lingere be making its way as an everyday outdoor garment??? Well this mesh see through material goes back... wayyyy back to to 3000 B.C.E to the ancient Indian dress and culture. A Sari... This single long piece of fabric would drape across a woman's body and was usually made of a light sheer fabric or silk. I'll spare you the history lesson and fast forward to Madonna and the 80's! This "Material Girl" was all about lace, sheer and living life on the edge. #FashionIcon

So we've seen this done before, but like the saying goes "history repeats itself" and so does fashion.

I was inspired to try this look from reading an article on Refinary 29. If you don't follow them I highly recommend it! This New York based, female empowering publication is inclusive, provides all fashion insights, tips, ideas and gives so much inspiration it's unreal. I read the article and felt as confident as ever to take on this sheer trend! Because I mean let's face it... it's sheer! 😂 I don't want all my goodies out and to feel uncomfortable! Naturally that what you would think lol...

sheer = goodies, not my goodies. #Ciara 😂😂😂 Ok back to the article, one of the ideas was to throw on a long midi dress over a sheer top. So that's what I did.... #KandyreignStyle 😉

I'm obsessed with high necklines, dramatic statement pieces and contrasting that with something simple... i.e. In my look a simple black dress. I took what I read on Refinary 29 and wanted to add some regalness and elegance to my look. Simple yet a statement... I call that quiet elegance. You're not screaming for attention by being too loud yet you grab people's attention and make heads turn by your confidence. To play with Summer colors I added pink accents to pop with the mint. Keeps the look fun and fresh.

So have fun and add some sheer lovvve to your wardrobe this Summer! The 80's are back baby! Whether you take your sheer on a date night out with bae or take your sheer to the streets, be super confident that people turn heads and say, "who's that queen???"
