Summer Lookbook '17: "Females of the Future"

There's nothing like being a woman... the power we possess, the knowledge that yes the man is the head but the woman is the neck... she can turn the head any way she wants to (creds to "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"). The ability to birth a nation... it's unmatched. And like Maya told us, to be a woman is to be phenomenal.

This past weekend the hubs and I went to see Wonder Woman and wow. I got emotional!  After the movie we had a deep conversation about the movie and how it resonated with us. #SpoilerAlert in the beginning it was so moving to see strong beautiful women of all colors and sizes in one place training and working together as a tribe. I felt so proud I almost cried lol...

For my summer lookbook '17 it was important for me to make a statement about the strength of women. For decades and shinning light on the past few months, so many rights have been stripped away from women. Or because you are a woman you can only make this amount of money, be taught only this type of education or only tap into this type of industry. Even in our homes the woman has to play a certain type of role. It's the dawn of a new era therefore it's so important that women and people who support women come together as the Amazonians did in Wonder Woman.

I bought this graphic tee that said, "Females of the Future". To me this speaks so much... Females of the future take a stand against self doubt, Females of the future take a stand towards equality in their homes, at their jobs and across the world. Females of the future don't accept inferiority and know their self worth. Females of the future are bold and brave to speak out loud and say what they want when they want. Females of the future are taking proactive action now to make a better path for our future.

I challenge all of us to come together, speak up and out on issues in regards to gender, race, creed and sexual orientation. Yes, we've come a long way but we have a long way to go. Talk to your students, peers, children and coworkers about these issues and the steps we can take leading towards healing and inclusivity. Let's have the conversation and from there take action.

Peace and love
