Summer '17 Lookbook: #TotalSelfLove

Alright ladies, this is the last and final chapter of my Summer '17 Lookbook. It's been exciting to share and to take you along with me on this journey viewing my insights on life and the fashion industry. I'm loving the comments from everyone! Keep em comin'! It inspires me! As for this last look it isn't really a "look"... it's a feeling. The feeling of loving life, loving love and most importantly loving yourself, flaws and all. #TotalSelfLove.

For this last scene I knew I wanted to sneak a little something in for the hubs lol... I told my photographer, the beautiful and talented Chandra Lynch, that I've never done anything like this before!! To be sexy but tasteful was the goal and we made it happen. Now I can't show you all the pictures because they are for bae and his eyes only!!! Hahaha! That's one take away with marriage... You gotta keep things spicy! *Side note* I can't believe we're going on 9 months!!! What a journey it's been and literally the best day of my life to say "I do" to my best friend. I know it's super cheesy lol... but it's so true! It's been honestly a roller coaster but there's no one else I'd be strapped on this ride with. *stepping of my soap box*

The next big deal with this shoot was self love. Now listen... I don't have the best body out there lol... *Cues Skee-Lo* I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller... lol okay okay for real though we all have something(s) we wish we could change about ourselves! Well queens tis the season for self love. God made each and every one of us in his own image, each with a unique gift and with a purpose. It's all about tapping into that gift and owning it.

Now I have no idea what inspired me to wear nothing but a boyfriend denim shirt that said "easy tiger" on it with dancer hot shorts underneath lol but I did know I wanted something simple and easy that just showcased me as a person. And that I needed roses lol... my favorite flower!

Times have definitely changed. We're living in a time where Instagram models and celebrities are self absorbed and it's all about body image. Hence the Kardashians are seen as the new face of beauty. We're living in a time where everyone is about "Keeping up with the Jones'"... I'm not as pretty as her, I'm not as in shape as her, if she has a big booty I'm going to have an even bigger booty. We're competing with each other. I remember after my mom did my hair, crowned me with my barrettes and put coco butter on my face, that to me was beauty. I thought I was the sharpest thing in the room! I would dance around and be carefree!

True beauty comes from within. We should find that inner carefree child who didn't care and who wasn't tainted by what society viewed as "true beauty". Love yourself flaws and all. (Ode to Queen Bey) The next time self doubt or someone pushes negative energy towards you about your body or you as a person you better tell them, "Not today Gina..." #SideEye
