How To: Winterizing Your Summer Wardrobe! #Sheer

If you’re like me, I’m a recycle reuse restyle kinda girl *and my husband has me on a tight shopping budget... like waist trainer tight! LOL* I like to play with ways I can take a summer look and make it cold weather ready! Sheer was poppin’ for the summer and honestly still is for autumn winter. But question... How do you style sheer and not freeze to death!?

Well here are a few tricks to the trade...

Over the summer we were seeing body suits or boy shorts being worn underneath sheer street style looks and possibly a bralette for the top half of your sheer look. Well unless you’re not human, for the winter you want to think about layering or #StylingUnder your sheer, i.e leggings, jeans, a tank top and or a graphic tee to layer and give your look a little personality. I wore black jeans and my Vogue statement tee under my sheer maxi dress. I had this vision of a black and white color palette but wanted to maintain the translucent effect.

Now you want to be warm but you also want to be stylish with your sheer look. Layering or #StylingOver your sheer is a must! Great layering pieces to consider would be a cropped fur, cropped denim jacket, a bomber or a leather jacket. Notice I used the word cropped because if you’re wearing a maxi dress you wouldn’t want anything too much longer than your waist line. You don’t want to appear that you’re drowning in your look! The goal is to look street but still amplify your style and taste. I just went with a faux leather jacket! It was easy and gave me the street aesthetic I always want when it comes to styling.

3. Shoe Game

Selecting the right shoes is next on the list! When making this decision, no pressure lol... I would just consider your mood, think about what the occasion is, and next think about the length of your sheer maxi dress. If you’re in a chic mood and maybe your sheer maxi dress is a bit longer, booties or heels are a great choice. It’ll make you look taller and once again not like you’re drowning in your clothes. If you’re in a kick back chill mood and your sheer maxi dress is at or slightly below the knee, sneakers would be a very cool addition to your look. My sheer maxi came to my ankle so I knew for sure booties were the way to go!

4. Details Are Everything

You’re wearing sheer so everything can be seen. Give your look an element of surprise, whether you have on a fun graphic tee, or like me want to show off your belt! This belt had a clasp that was gold and went down the center so I thought that would be a really cool piece to highlight under my sheer maxi dress. Everything else remained clean and minimal. For an extra pop I added this cream colored floral bag from Topshop.

I’m all for buying the next big thing for the seasons trust me... #ShoppingAddict, but if you’re on a budget or just looking to save with the holidays around the corner, try this! There are ways to save and still look stylish by winterizing a few of your summer pieces.

I’m excited to see what you all create queens! Please post and #KandyreignStyle so I can celebrate you and follow along!
