“Fashion doesn’t sleep in only catwalks.” The motto behind fashion designer, Cori Davis.

On Saturday February 24th I had the pleasure of experiencing Cori Davis’ debut runway fashion show. When you’re in a Cori Davis design you feel a sense of power yet so feminine. Her pieces have details from the appliqués down to the fabric choice. This year her collection was inspired by the 1980’s classic movie, “Mad Max, Beyond The Thunderdome”. I won’t go to deep into the summery and plot of the movie but I will talk the fashion inspiration in the movie. Think rebellious punk with enormous shoulder pads, metal dresses, leather, sparkles and bodysuits. Cori was sure to grab that inspiration to drive the magic behind this collection.

For this debut fashion show, Cori also honors her 8 year old daughter, Reign, who was diagnosed with Autism. Cori designed a special outfit for Reign and herself to show the strong mother-daughter bond they have. The backdrop of her show also featured the first autism emoji that Cori created for autism awareness - AutMoji.

A little about fashion designer Cori Davis, originally from California, Cori was inspired at the age of 10 years old. She would sit in history class and design outfits. *Side note* this takes me back to my doodling days as a child in class lol... but I for sure wasn’t creating runway collections. Just the occasional human stick figures and flowers lol. Cori knew she was on to big things from just the age of 10 years old. From there she took her passions to Chicago and studied at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago. Here she would receive her degree in fashion design.

From evening gowns to joggers, Coris’ collection Showcased 25 outfits with hints of sparkle, leather and transparency. All the things I love. It emphasized the strength and elegancy of women. And get this... the collection was designed in just 30 days. I don’t think the designers in Project Runway could beat that time frame for their final collections lol! #ImShook
As mentioned I did have the opportunity to sit down with Cori and interview her before the show! Check it out below!
I hope you are inspired royal fam and continue to pursue your passions no matter what.

“With this collection I want to inspire everyone! Women can be beautiful and fashionable at any age,” -Cori Davis.
