Hey everyone! Welcome back! I hope you all had an amazing 4 day day weekend! Only 4 days this work week left to go lol! As promised I said I would be back with what was the hint...??? This is something I said way back in March I was going to highlight lol, they are back, and track style is now in fashion. If you haven't guessed it already its the belt bag and track pants! Or in old school terms a good ol' fanny pack. They are back in fashion! But what I love about this version of styling the fanny pack is that they have a more versatile and upscale aesthetic. They aren't just worn with joggers and track jackets we are seeing them on suits for women, pleated skirts and dresses and over trench coats. I love the versatility where the reinvented name of the belt bag is taking us. Check out some of my inspiration below.
I was inspired by this trend and to put my own unique twist to this belt bag. Another #streetstyle trend that's back are track pants or anything with the Adidas tape stripe down the side. I came across these wide leg track pants at H&M at an amazing price. What caught my eye is fist of all they were wide leg. A lot of the tape pants in fast fashion retailers right now are jogger style and they taper off at the knee. Well I have enormous calves and my legs don't work in those lol. The second objective to these pants were the color! I love the color teal and it also isn't a color you see too often during Spring/Summer so I had to grab them.
Once I had the pants I honestly didn't know how to style them lol! I went back and forth soooo many times if I should take them back or not. So I just thought about the things I love... I love denim, I love juxtapositions of edgy and flirty, I love culture and as a basic go to color a simple black crop top. It's Summer! I don't have the super snatched Instagram body that most people are after, but I love my body as it is now. Sure there are things I want to change about my body but I'm changing it at my own pace and at my own time. I love to show just a little bit of skin during the Summer. Whether it's my legs or a bit of my midriff I'm proud of what I have and I own it. The change will come when it comes.
Once i sat down and looked at what all I had in my close this look came together! I love to layer as well so that's where the denim jacket came into play. I had this amazing African print head wrap that I got 'from a vendor in Harlem, NY that vibed well with the Versace inspired lion heads on my belt bag. I kept my accessories to a minimum of course because I already had a lot going on in this look. The fun piece though in this whole look were these all yellow sunnies from a boutique in Indianapolis. I saw these and had to grab them! I have sunnies where the lenses are just yellow but these had the lenses and frames yellow! #SuperCute and just all around different and nothing I've seen before.
Well queens if you're ever like me and A) have a shopping addiction, B) buy anything and everything just to have in your wardrobe but have no idea how to style what you just bought just think about what inspires you and what you love in fashion. More specifically think about your essentials that can go with any street style look and you're gold. Also style your look to stand out! Everyone has the tape pants... what are you going to do to stand out? When in doubt, always remember to style what you love.
