Hi hello!! Welcome to July!!! We’re finally getting some descent weather here in Northwest Indiana/Chitown. It’s been very inconsistent especially in June... I’ve been sick for the past 2 weeks because of it! I don’t know whether to pack away my summer gear or fall gear! She’s confused lol... but it is what it is and for the most part I can’t complain. I won’t complain. This time last Summer it was my first summer in Chicago... I had 0 friends, 0 knowledge of anything and 0 cointata lol... but I knew I had goals!! Now looking back I can def say wowwwww... God is opening doors and blessing Jadien and I left and right!!! I’m still learning and God is still working on me in the process from getting from point A to point B but to see God’s favor and mercy throughout this past year has been nothing short of miraculous.

Very sorry I only had one post for you in June!! I’ve been super focused on Fabletics... check out my IG for all things fitness and the partnership! Here’s some pics of my June outfits and a link to shop Fabletics.com! Towards the end of the month my best friends sister passed away from terminal cancer... that really put a hold on things so I could be there for my babies. I still can’t believe she’s gone... she was like my sister! But she was a woman of faith and no matter what had passion with everything she did. That’s what I’ll take with me and remember the most, her passion.

Now we are here and I’m excited to share this look for July! So, the title of this blog post is called “Juxtaposition”. May we define juxtaposition?? We shall. “The act or an instance of placing two or more things side by side often to compare or contrast or to create an interesting effect” -Merriam-Webster Dictionary So with this being said, hard and soft, masculine and feminine, chic and edgy, dressy and casual. Get it!? This is my ultimate way to dress and the perfect styling tip. It shows personality! I’m not all girly and I’m not all edge either... I’m all of the above.

Now let’s break down what represents what in this look of mine! #Edge: For this look the edginess here would first and foremost be the color black. Black is dark, seen for darker edgy goth looks. If you’ll also note I used a dark lippie to pull in even more of a darker vibe. The second piece to the edge is that I paired a graphic tee with a girlie feminine skirt. To keep it all the way feminine and chic I would have done a blouse or dressy top... well we weren’t going for that look lol. I went for a statement graphic tee that was casual. The third edgy piece to this look are the shoes. How often do you see a stacked platform sandal with a skirt like this??? Not too often lol... but the shoes totally completed this edgy #streetstyle look!! Okay I promise to not say edgy again LOL!

#Chic: This is pretty obvious here but the shirt gives you all the pretty, feminine, girlie and sexy vibes that you need! It has the waterfall ruffle on the front, hugs the body, oh and the color! Btw if you haven’t noticed I’m getting into color y’all lol... my past few posts have been a little #KandyKoated!!! Color is totally not all bad lol... I like it!

Doing a little research here let me tell y’all about Blue... okay not my favorite celebrity baby Blue Ivy Carter lol! But the color blue. What it means, it’s benefits and what it represents! According to Bourn Creative, an online publication, blue represents both the sky and the sea, and is associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, expansiveness, inspiration, and sensitivity. The color blue also has positive affects on the mind and the body. As the color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming and exude feelings of tranquility. Blue helps to slow human metabolism, is cooling in nature, and helps with balance and self-expression. And my favorite part of this color, blue is also an appetite suppressant. *instantly pulls out anything from my closet that isn’t blue LOL!* Wearing blue all Summer 2018! This color was bright and bold so to keep this more street I had to add black. Or be bold and pair another contrasting color like orange, yellow or teal! All great colors that pair well with blue. #ColorBlocking. We’ll dive into that another time.

So there you have my look broken down and the reasoning why I style the way I love to style! Juxtaposition or contrast styling tells a story and helps you and others use your imagination! It’s a conversation element when you’re out and about. Me being a Virgo you know I can chat away with anyone and walk away with their whole life story and them with mine lol. If you haven’t tried contrast styling use some of these tips I provided above and give this a try! Take any of the juxtaposition combinations hard/soft, feminine/masculine, dressy/casual and run with it. I promise you’ll have fun and this could be your next go to when you wanna spice up your look.
Until next time!

Stay tuned for my next post that I’ll say made me slow down and take bathes lol... and there’s a giveaway included!!! #Exciting
Cheers queens!
