Hello everyone!
Wow it’s been a minute since I’ve been on here to create a blog post! Truly I thought I was going to get a new job, create content and create a new website in 3 months... #girlplease lol... my new job with adidas as the Visual Merchandising Associate Leader aka VMAL has truly been an eye opener. The pace and the adjustment of the people and business has honestly been a rough one. BUT now I am finding my way and my voice with the company and I couldn’t be happier. Now that I’m getting some what compliant in my role and finding my rhythm now I can blog lol. That’s what life is about right!? Finding your rhythm and balance.
A cute little boutique in Boston MA who I’ve been fond of their owners for quit some time was so kind to gift me this yellow jumpsuit! It’s called the “Magic Jumpsuit“ shop the look here 👉🏾 https://bit.ly/2T5qVKk.
In Chicago it’s still 30°! I was really struggling with how to feel Spring inspired yet winterize and layer the jumpsuit because it’s still cold outside. Check out the steps below.
1. Think about what you like and how you like to dress.
I love a juxtaposition of hard and soft, masculine and feminine, girly and edgy etc. So I thought hummm... I love graphic tees, booties and layers. At first I was putting on turtlenecks under the jumpsuit, adding on denim jackets to layer and it wasn’t quite right. So I paused and thought about my style aesthetic.
2. Think of contrasting colors.
Now there are many great colors that go well with this mustard yellow but sticking to a) what was already in my closet and b) what I like, black was the smartest color choice.
3. Now that you have the base color, think of ways to insert contrasting colors.
The easiest contrasting color here was orange. Orange and yellow look great together especially jumping into Spring. So that’s where the orange sunnies come in. Other colors that stood out were red and pink which are highlighted in my floral clutch. Also you can’t say hello Spring without a pop of floral print!
4. Accentuate your waist.
This jumpsuit is loose and baggy so is the graphic tee I selected. To show separation of the two and highlight my curves, I did a classic knot at the bottom of my graphic tee.
5. Layer up and HAVE FUN with your accessories!
Like I said in step 1 I love a combination of edgy and girly. Nothing says edge like a leather jacket! And of course to have fun I found these dope asymmetrical earrings on Nasty Gal! I wore these just to add some personality to my look and it’s a great conversation piece.

Okay queens! Until next time! Have a great week and I’ll see you next time on the blog.
